Ultra-Hardened Pie-Pan Watch S4090 Case: Durability Redefined
To enhance durability, the S4090 case undergoes a specialized hardening process—a advanced deposition method that forms an ultra-hard protective film on the stainless steel surface. While standard stainless steel has a Vickers hardness of HV 200, this treatment boosts the watch's surface hardness to an impressive HV 500, more than doubling its resistance to scratches and wear.
Light Gold Plating: Vintage Aesthetic with Enhanced Hardness
IP gold plating has a vibrant color that fades over time when it loses its outer layer of protection. In order to give Baltany Pie-Pan watch S4090 case a vintage aesthetic and to show it as if it had been used, we use a “light gold plating” process. While normal gold plating involves applying a base layer to the surface of the object and then electroplating it with gold, the plating process we chose this time was to deposit both gold and titanium nitride on the surface of the case at the same time. After this process, not only the color is lighter, showing the effect of IPG's old color, but more importantly, the surface hardness is higher, up to HV 300+, which is 2 times higher than ordinary IPG.

I’ve been wearing the S4090 daily for the past two weeks and it’s incredibly versatile. The 38.5mm size is ideal for my wrist — not too flashy, just right. The Miyota 9039 movement runs smoothly and keeps great time, and I love that there’s no ghost date position. The exhibition caseback adds a nice mechanical touch, and the curved lugs make it sit very comfortably on the wrist. A great choice if you want something vintage-inspired but practical for modern use.

10 months agoThe pie-pan dial immediately caught my attention — it has that charming vintage depth you rarely see in modern watches. Paired with the sharp dog-leg lugs, this watch wears like a true mid-century classic. The polished dauphine hands and arrow hour markers shimmer under the dome sapphire, creating a beautiful play of light. I’m genuinely impressed by the level of finishing at this price point.

10 months agoClassic and elegant with quality construction way above its price point with a miyota 9039 high beat series, and aesthetically appealing design. I got the black dial with gold markers . Couldn’t be pleased more and relieved that the watch came before the tariffs hit the market.

11 months agoThis is the first pie-pan dial I've ever owned, and honestly, it's stunning. I didn't expect to enjoy it this much. The dial has real depth, and the surface hardening on the case gives it a clean shine without being flashy. The 10mm diameter of the watch is very comfortable to wear, and the leather strap is also very well made.

Excellent elegant design and quality and outstanding service. My order was a custom order and I communicated with the Support Team at Baltany. The communication was very smooth, responsive and friendly. A few drafts were exchanged before final confirmation on the updated design work (additional wording on the dial). Information on the shipment was also smooth and it arrived in around a week with detailed tracking. The watch is great. Excellent work and finishing. The watch works well with a variety of different straps and has a very 1950s vibe. I think most people will assume it is a vintage watch. Because it is a white/silver dial with a thin bezel, it wears slightly larger than a 38mm watch. I would not hesitate to order from Baltany again. A great experience.
