Baltany Burgundy 36mm Gold Retro Dress Watches S4084

The Baltany S4084 with its new ST2130 movement is absolutely incredible. The 11.4mm overall case thickness allows this to wear perfectly on wrist and is exceptionally proportioned. The ability for this movement to not only trim the caseback dimensions but thanks to the shorter handstack, allow the dial to be raised to be better placed transforms this watch visually to a well resolved execution on the design. That is another area where Baltany really shines here, the execution and attention to detail. From the fine engraving on the case and rehault, fantastically cut hands and indicies, as well as tight tolerances for the rest of the machining, this does not feel like a watch costing what it does, it feels much more premium and solid. The dial on my burgundy is more stunning in hand than product photos can show but a real stand out is that cyclops. Rather than the usual lower magnification offered, the proper 2.5x magnification sapphire cyclops adds real utility and completes the design. The bracelet is another stand out feature. Tight fitment to the lugs, but the bracelet is still on wrist, able to drape as a proper 5 link should lending itself to extreme comfort. The clasp is also solid, a simple double press lock milled clasp but it is restrained in its dimensions and thickness which helps the bracelet feel all the more premium.

Seriously, I don't understand how these are offered at the prices they are because the value that you get is astounding. Even when compared to say a vintage Bulova super seville automatic calendar, this is better proportioned, machined, and executed (yes there is an over 40 year gap between them) but the fact you can get a better watch for cheaper than they were at launch (even adjusted for inflation) is astounding. Well on Baltany. This has become a favorite in the collection.

This watch is absolutely stunning! The crown screws down and unscrews very smoothly and has a noticeable click between the winding/date/hour setting positions. The mechanism winds very smoothly as well! The strap is a gold ring strap with screw-down hands. In addition to the watch in the box, you will also get a cleaning cloth, screwdriver and hands remover, warranty, instructions, and a leather pouch.
